4.Activity level: what counts and what does not

AL is the mass of goods leaving the process in the year, with two rules:

  1. Only saleable goods, or goods used directly as a precursor, count. Scrap, off-spec, by-products and waste do not, whether recycled, sold or thrown away.
  2. Scrap leaves with zero emissions. In the worked example, the 7 000 t of scrap carries none.

In a joint "bubble" process, count only the final products to avoid double counting.

WATCH OUT Because scrap carries no emissions, the emissions of metal that became scrap stay with the good products. Your SEE reflects your yield.
