Module 7 of 9 · A5 · Monitoring and reporting at an aluminium installation
1.What must be monitored
- CO2 from anode consumption (pre-baked anodes or Søderberg paste).
- CO2 from fuel-fired furnaces (holding, pre-heating, re-melting, annealing). Stationary only; vehicles are excluded.
- CO2 from heat and cooling used in the process, wherever produced.
- PFCs (CF4 and C2F6) from anode effects.
- CO2 from flue gas cleaning, for example soda ash.
These are added into one total. Include start-up, shut-down and emergencies.
SIMPLIFIED You do not need to monitor electricity or alumina for CBAM. Neither counts for aluminium.
