Module 1 of 9 · S1 · CBAM basics for non-EU producers
Overview
CBAM puts a carbon price on certain goods when they enter the EU. Since 1 January 2026 it is a real cost, not only a report. The EU importer carries the legal obligation, but it can only use your actual (usually lower) emissions if you measure them, have them verified and share them.
You will learn
- What CBAM is and which goods and countries it covers.
- How the old transitional period differs from today's definitive period.
- Who does what: declarant, operator, verifier and authorities.
- The annual cycle: declare, buy, hold, surrender.
- What your installation has to deliver.
